Box Office Hits, Remakes and Sequels Dominate This Year’s RAZZIE® Nominations

Following a Banner Year for Bad Movies, voting members of The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation have sifted through the cinematic rubble and selected what they consider to be last year’s Berry Worst “Achievements” in Film. In addition to 2009’s top under-achievers, The Gala 30th Annual RAZZIE® Awards will dis-honor The Worst of the “Uh-Ohs,” with special awards for the Worst Picture, Actor and Actress of the Decade in ceremonies scheduled for Hollywood's Barnsdall Gallery Theatre at 7:30pm/PST on Saturday, March 6 — the now traditional Night Before the Oscars®.

Leading the pack among this year’s RAZZIE® contenders are one of the year’s biggest money-makers and the year’s biggest money-loser, each with seven nods. RAZZIE® Repeat Offender Michael Bay helped lead the over-loud, over-long, uber-stupid TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN to a huge box office take...and to a huge haul of RAZZIE® nominations as well. In addition to Worst Director and Worst Picture, the film is up for Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Screenplay, Worst Supporting Actress (Julie White as the stoned, screaming mother of Shia Le Bouf), Worst Screen Couple (Le Bouf and EITHER Megan Fox OR Any Transformer) and Worst Actress (Fox again, dually nominated for this film and JENNIFER’S BODY). Keeping up with TRANNIES, TOO in the RAZZIE® race (but decidedly not at the box office) is Last Summer’s Biggest B.O. bomb, LAND OF THE LOST, also with 7 shots at taking home spray-painted gold. LOST star Will Ferrell is listed in both Worst Actor and Worst Screen Couple (Ferrell & Any Co-Star, Creature or “Comic Riff”) and the film itself is also nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel and Worst Supporting Actor (the screaching Jorma Taccone as the monkeylike Cha-Ka). Rounding out the Worst Picture list are the Disney dud OLD DOGS, the awful “action-figures-come-to-life” 9-Year-Old-Boy-Movie G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA and the So-Good-It-Was-Held-Back-from-Release-for-2-Years “comedy” ALL ABOUT STEVE (whose star, Worst Actress nominee Sandra Bullock, could pull off the unprecedented feat of “winning” a RAZZIE® one day before winning an Oscar®).

Other well-known names shamed as being last year’s worst include 2010 Oscar® co-host Steve Martin (Worst Actor for PINK PANTHER 2), Beyonce (Worst Actress for OBSESSED), Worst Actor of the Decade contenders Eddie Murphy (up for Worst Actor of 2009 in IMAGINE THAT) and John Travolta (Worst Actor of 2009 for OLD DOGS) as well as the twitty Dizz-Knee ’tween idols Miley Cyrus (Worst Actress for HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE) and any two or more of the Jonas Brothers, nominated jointly for Worst Actor and Worst Screen Couple — for their documentary JONAS BROS. A 3-D CONCERT EXPERIENCE. A complete list of nominees is included with this press release.

Nominees were determined by mailing ballots to 647 Foundation members in 46 U.S. states and 19 foreign countries. The RAZZIES® were created in 1980 as a logical antidote to Tinsel Town’s annual glut of self-congratulatory awards by John Wilson, author of THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE® MOVIE GUIDE and EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED AT THE MOVIES. The Barnsdall Gallery Theatre is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

Invasion of the Giant Squids

by Mike Krumboltz

Giant squids! Sorry to startle you, but we're just so excited. You see, they're giant squids! And they're invading California beaches by the hundreds! And in a heavily attended press conference this morning, they announced plans to star in their own reality show!

OK, so maybe that last one hasn't happened (yet), but the rest of it is the honest-to-god truth. An article from the AP explains that the squids weigh up to 60 pounds each, but most tip the scales somewhere between 20 and 40 pounds. And, yes, they squirt ink when irritated.

Web searches on the giant squids (GIANT SQUIDS!) are already off the charts. One-day spikes on both "giant squids" and "giant squids in california" surged from near-zip into the thousands. Folks clearly want to see these gargantuan creatures for themselves.

Despite their intimidating heft and tendency to spew ink, the squids aren't scaring off local fishermen. As of today, around 400 of the giant squids have been nabbed by anglers. That number is likely to rise. An article from San Diego 6 explains that locals "started booking twilight fishing trips over the weekend to catch them."

The last time the giant (aka “jumbo” aka “Humboldt”) squid made waves in Search came last September, when a record-breaking 19 ½-foot-long, 103-lb beast was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico.

Now they're back with a vengeance. Wanna see the new ones for yourself? MyFoxLA hosts a collection of photos of nabbed squids.

Five Amazing Gadgets to be Released in 2010

4G Phones are coming in 2010

NTT DoCoMo has been demonstrated cellular phone which capable of transmitting data at high speed. This 4G phones, the next generation of their old 3G phones network which has 384 Kbps downloads and 129 Kbps uploads, could receive data at 100Mbps on the move and at up to a gigabit per second while static. That means you could download an entire DVD in about a minute. How cool it is! Whew! I can’t wait to have one!

Microsoft 7 to be released in 2010 also

As of now, Windows Vista is the latest Microsoft system. But do you know that there’s another system that is soon to be released. This system is called “Microsoft 7″ and there were rumors about the exact release date of this new system. This question was fueled by Bill Gates’ remarks that it would be released three years after Windows Vista. Obviously it is more hi-tech than vista.

Laptop In 2010

The Italian company V12 Designs has devised a new version of the ‘Canova’ which is a dual LCD laptop. It’s a two screened laptop and both were touch screens. There were few news about this one but I know you’ll enjoy this thing. So strive hard in your work if you want to have a doubled screen laptop.

New Upgraded Nintendo DS and PSP

Evan Wilson of Pacific Crest Securities says we can expect a sequel to the Wii in 2010, to be followed by a new Xbox later that year. According to the inventors that have some conjectures before now that Nintendo has a shorter life cycle

in mind for its graphics-impaired Wii. There are no plans yet if there will have Sony PS4 but Wilson predicted a new Nintendo DS and PSP in 2010.

I owned an Xbox but when I heard about this thing, I want to swap my Xbox to PS4. :)

Hydrogen-powered phones available by 2010

French researchers have nearly succeeded in commercially developing a hydrogen fuel cell for use as a backup power source for mobile phones, thus easing dependence on an electricity supply to charge the gadgets. The product is designed to be part of a “hybrid” system in which the cell phone first draws on the conventional battery for its power and then taps into the fuel cell if needed. Each cartridge gives the equivalent of three to five recharges of the traditional battery. It is due to reach the market in early 2010, according to STMicroelectronics executive Igor Bimbaud, who declined to give its price.

Samsung cell phone: Specs and picture of the Galaxy 2

This new smartphone has some strong and interesting features, including a large amount of available internal memory, an ARM-based processor (Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor), as well as a big display (at least, when it is compared with other smartphones).

Among the main features of the Samsung Galaxy 2 are:

* Android 2.1 operating system
* Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
* 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen
* It has an internal memory with massive storage capacity of up to 32 GB
* Built-in 5-megapixel camera (which is perfect for those who like to take those unexpected pictures at any time)
* It has a GPS receiver
* WiFi connectivity
* A 3.5mm audio jack for headphones

Judging by the picture, this mobile phone has a very interesting design and, without doubt, it will attract the attention and admiration of many people, including online and offline media. For that reason, we think this smartphone will have a very promising future.

At this time, we don’t know how much it’s going to cost for the end user. And actually there is no official word yet on what countries have been selected for the debut of the Samsung Galaxy 2. We’ll see.

MJ choreographer spellbound by Cebu dancing inmates

By JOJO P. PANALIGAN

Michael Jackson's choreographer Travis Payne admits to being in awe of the Cebu dancing inmates’ interpretation of the late King of Pop’s hit song “They Don’t Care About Us.”

“They are prisoners but they are also dancers,” said he who had also worked with Madonna and Lady Gaga in the past.

It wasn’t the first time that inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) danced to an MJ song. Two years ago, they took on his signature song, “Thriller,” which became a viral hit on the Internet, garnering millions of visits on YouTube.

Payne said that Michael himself saw that performance. “He loved it. It took him a minute to register what it was [but when it did], he laughed and he got so excited, was so touched by it,” said he.

The choreographer added that oftentimes during breaks while they were rehearsing for Michael’s final concert, “This Is It,” Michael and the rest of the crew would repeatedly watch the Cebu dancing inmates’ video of “Thriller.”

Travis himself came to Cebu to oversee the rehearsals for “They Don’t Care About Us.” Two of Michael’s dancers, whom the singer personally picked for “This Is It” from hundreds of auditioners, even danced with the inmates.

“Michael was like a brother to us. When we thank him for giving us the opportunity to dance with him onstage, he’d say, ‘No, God bless you. Thank YOU for being here.’ That [the humility] was what’s beautiful about Michael,” said one of the dancers.

Sony Music, Michael’s record label, tapped an all-Filipino crew to shoot the dance routine. The footage may end up as part of the “This Is It” concert on DVD which will soon be launched worldwide.

The ANC show which aired the interview with Payne said that about 800 inmates practiced the steps to “They Don’t Care About Us” for two straight days, resting only for meals.

Latest News : Michael Jackson's Grammy Tribute Goes Beyond Remembering His Music, Reinforces His Message

All the music-themed award shows have paid their respects to Michael Jackson with heartfelt tributes. But the Grammys topped them all Sunday night because they not only displayed the King of Pop's music but captured the sentiment of one of the issues closest to his heart--saving the planet.

Then for the shocking finale, Jackson's two eldest children, Prince Michael and Paris, accepted the Grammys' Lifetime Achievement on their father's behalf. (Michael's youngest son, Prince II aka "Blanket," remained backstage.)

Instead of offering a medley of his biggest records, Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson joined for a performance of Jackson's "Earth Song" as a 3D version of the video from This Is It played in the background. Additionally, some of Jackson's lead vocals were also used for the live rendition.
